Out of focus: Report on HIV in West and Central Africa (FRENCH)

Despite renewed optimism internationally around the discourse of "ending AIDS", West and Central Africa remain largely overlooked in the fight against HIV.

Globally, the years 2000-2015 were marked by increased access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and a decrease of 35% of AIDS deaths since 2005.

A record number of nearly 16 million people living with HIV (PLHIV) were on ART; three out of four of them live in sub-Saharan Africa, where the need is greatest.

Civil society and public health services have joined forces to provide PLHIV new treatments based on scientific evidence and best practices.
