Making a difference: Decentralisation of HIV/TB Care in Shiselweni

Eswatini is a small, sub-Saharan African country with a population of only 1.2 million people and one of the world’s highest rates of both HIV prevalence and new TB infections.

Since the early 1990’s, when these two diseases took root in the country, life expectancy has plummeted by more than 11 years. To support Eswatini in responding to this dual epidemic, in 2008 MSF Switzerland (MSF-CH) launched an HIV/ TB project in the rural region of Shiselweni.
